S.A.F.E. Funding Update and Request for Donations

Thank you so much for your donation! Without your continuing support, CHSRA will proceed without our communities’ critical input. We have already affected change to some of the proposed routes, but we have so much more work to do.

We hope you’ve been keeping informed about high speed rail by reading community newsletters and newspapers, attending community association and neighborhood council meetings, and visiting the S.A.F.E. website.

S.A.F.E. began receiving general donations and donations earmarked for legal defense purposes in January 2015. With guidance from both legal and accounting advisors, funds have been deposited into a separate account at the Sunland/Foothill Blvd. Bank of America branch related to the account of the Shadow Hills Property Owners Association. S.A.F.E. also has compiled a comprehensive database of all donors and supporters. To date, S.A.F.E. has not spent any of the funds received from generous donors in our communities. If the legal funds are not used, they will be returned to the donors.

S.A.F.E. has been able to provide information to the community and to CHSRA due to donated services from many professionals in our communities: graphic designers, attorneys, printers, banner makers, churches (for meeting rooms), engineers, videographers and photographers, and many, many more. S.A.F.E. has also received support in varying forms from Shadow Hills Property Owners Assn., Lake View Terrace Improvement Assn., Kagel Canyon Civic Assn., Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council and Foothill Trails District Neighborhood Council.

As we are learning more about CHSRA’s plans and as several important outreach and informational meetings are scheduled for the next few months, we are requesting support for informational-related expenses. While we will do all we can to secure donated services and materials, we expect to incur some expenses for printing materials such as informational flyers, banners and lawn signs. Our goal is to reach as many people as cost-effectively as possible. Some materials will be free; some we will seek a contribution toward (such as lawn signs).

Please note, it will show that the donation is for SHPOA-Shadow Hills Property Owners Association, which is the legal entity that can take and “carefully” document your donation for the cause you select.
